Hello Reader!

Things keep coming up and sliding the Bookletter to later in the week but I at least got it done! I will try to get it to you all earlier next week. Stay warm!

I first listened to Grace Smith on the Kate Northrup Podcast: Unlocking Financial Abundance with Hypnotherapy With Grace Smith and I was so fascinated that I had to read her book.

Hypnotism has such a stigma attached to it that I couldn't help but be intrigued. What is hypnotism if not a parlor trick? Do people really lose weight and quit smoking from it? Grace's book pulls you in with the first story of helping her father-in-law, a paralyzed veteran, find a spark of electricity to move his finger. Her method of using hypnosis is a tool to get to our subconscious beliefs, emotions, habits, values, protective reactions, imagination, and intuition.

"Willpower, logical thinking, and critical thinking are the domain of the conscious mind." Grace uses hypnosis to directly get to our subconscious and the areas holding us back. She also has an app that has prerecorded sessions for you to do hypnosis on your own.

As I am an on-again, off-again meditator, I found her sessions very specific and interesting. I think if you have something in particular to work on, they could be very helpful.

The Food Book

I'm a sucker for the why and history about anything so when I saw The Food Book: The Stories, the Science, and the History of What We Eat, I had to check it out. And it didn't disappoint!

I learned so much random stuff perfect for small talk at the next awkward kid's party I have to attend. Like did you know that coriander is cilantro? And that prehistoric people were unable to digest milk after babyhood. It took lots of yogurt and 7000 years before humans were lactose tolerant. Finally, Lima beans have cyanide in them and must therefore always be cooked before eating!

This book is so full of interesting facts and it's fun to leave where you can pick it up and easily learn something new about the food in our lives!

Thanks for reading! Please feel free to write back with any comments or suggestions. I love to hear from readers!

I'm also still doing HR work so if you or any of your friends and family need resume & cover letter help or coaching, please reach out! - Kate

I'm here for women who are done apologizing for their emotions, asking permission to change, and building lives designed by committee. Your intensity isn't too much - it's your superpower. Your thoughts aren't broken - they're just protective patterns ready for revolution. Your dreams aren't too big - they're finally big enough.

Hello Reader! This week I'm exploring why self-care feels like such an obligation. Otherwise I'm trying to soak up the kids as much as possible before they go back to school in less than two weeks. So I only have one category but lots of thoughts on it. Feel My friends were discussing how much they hate the term ‘self-care.’ How it wasn’t realistic, they didn’t have time for it, it was too expensive, and it literally just becomes another to-do list item they don’t have the time or energy to...

Book in sunset

Hello Reader! I've been exploring what inner wisdom means to me and in my research. We're also trying to enjoy the end of summer with evening pool parties and golf matches. And taking time to read for fun! Feel I've been struggling with the word wisdom lately. In my writing, I'm trying to describe that inner knowing. That intuition. That gut feeling. You know, wisdom 😂 But I don't like that word. And I can't figure out why. Maybe because I associate with the old mentor in movies like Mr....

Woman Mad at Computer

Hello Reader! This week, we're exploring letting things go! Everything from past regrets to difficult people in our lives, I've been contemplating how much time and peace I get back when I say to myself, "What if this didn't matter to me?" This week has also been a time to catch up on summer with swimming, bike riding, and, of course, coding. We had a lovely trip to the mountains last week to visit family, but now's the time to live up the rest of summer! Feel I used my 90-second Dual...
