Inner Wisdom, Love Match, & Cher's Closet

Hello Reader!

I've been exploring what inner wisdom means to me and in my research. We're also trying to enjoy the end of summer with evening pool parties and golf matches. And taking time to read for fun!

Feel

I've been struggling with the word wisdom lately. In my writing, I'm trying to describe that inner knowing. That intuition. That gut feeling. You know, wisdom πŸ˜‚ But I don't like that word. And I can't figure out why.

Maybe because I associate with the old mentor in movies like Mr. Miyagi or Master Splinter. Or my grandparents and their years of experience. Or theologians.

Not me. Not my 40+ years on this planet. Not my road-raging self in rush hour traffic.

How could I have wisdom? Strong wisdom. Inner wisdom so strong that I know exactly what to do and when.

But maybe that's not wisdom. Maybe it doesn't mean knowing everything all at once. Maybe it's just knowing the right questions to ask. Maybe it's just knowing what to do in the current moment. For myself. For my family. For my friends.

Maybe wisdom is that innate sense of what's right in our heart. Maybe it's the calling we all feel in the quiet of the night when we hear, "That's not right." Maybe it's the peace we get when we choose what's right for us. Our families. Our communities.

I guess we all do have the feeling. It may just be whether or not we're listening to it. Accepting it. Honoring it.

And sometimes it means naming that feeling. You know, wisdom.

Change

I know I said I don't recommend a lot of fiction on here, but this one reminded me how much we can learn through fiction. Growing up, I read a lot of historical fiction, and even though I couldn't pronounce most of the names and places, I learned so much history in the process. And still have a love of European history today!

So when I saw The Love Match by Priyanka Taslim on the shelf at the library, I jumped at the chance to read it with my daughter. It's not only a cute and fun love story but also a celebration of Bangladeshi culture in New Jersey. I love when love stories share the culture of the authors along with it, and this hilarious book is a chance for us to learn more about Bangladeshi culture.

Build

And finally something fun this week. I wanted to share some cool technology. We are a little bit closer to Cher's closet from Clueless, people!

PS

I'm starting a Feel Change Build Community! Coming this fall (after the kids go back to school!), I'll be curating a community just for women who are ready to take their careers, relationships, and lives to the next level. It doesn't matter if you're just starting out, getting back to it, or are retired with valuable insights to share, I'd love to have you!

I will be building resources, workshops, and, of course, discussions along the way. I would love for the FCB community to be where you come for advice from your fellow women, who understand the struggles and triumphs we have daily! In a community where we're not feeding an algorithm that doesn't care about us or our missions.

I'm here for women who are done apologizing for their emotions, asking permission to change, and building lives designed by committee. Your intensity isn't too much - it's your superpower. Your thoughts aren't broken - they're just protective patterns ready for revolution. Your dreams aren't too big - they're finally big enough.

Hello Reader! This week I'm exploring why self-care feels like such an obligation. Otherwise I'm trying to soak up the kids as much as possible before they go back to school in less than two weeks. So I only have one category but lots of thoughts on it. Feel My friends were discussing how much they hate the term β€˜self-care.’ How it wasn’t realistic, they didn’t have time for it, it was too expensive, and it literally just becomes another to-do list item they don’t have the time or energy to...

Woman Mad at Computer

Hello Reader! This week, we're exploring letting things go! Everything from past regrets to difficult people in our lives, I've been contemplating how much time and peace I get back when I say to myself, "What if this didn't matter to me?" This week has also been a time to catch up on summer with swimming, bike riding, and, of course, coding. We had a lovely trip to the mountains last week to visit family, but now's the time to live up the rest of summer! Feel I used my 90-second Dual...

Woman looking at watch

Hello Reader! After a busy holiday weekend, I hope you had some time to yourself. A chance to really relax. However you like to, whether that's unplugging, reading, or bingeing shows or video games with friends and family. I hope you had time to enjoy guilt-free fun and relaxation! Feel My kiddo said something over the weekend that gave me an eerie sense of connection with him. After watching the 4th of July fireworks, he said, "Well, summer's almost over." Almost over? I thought about the...
